EXCUSE YOU….

Fairy tales? Yeah right!

The only fairytale action anyone needs in their lives is a magic lamp and a genie at your service.

If you are a bit ambitious, throw in a fairy godmother and maybe a prince charming or the fairest princess but I can guarantee you that the latter doesn’t exist.

But when people transform themselves onto Cinderella’s step sisters then you know you’ve got a real problem on your hands.

“Stop sucking me dry like a freaking vampire!”

Those words Tiana uttered was going to change her life.

She knew it and those standing around knew it to. That would explain their open jaws as though Ali Baba had yelled ‘open sesame’. I am on a fairytale roll here.

Actually, most of them were proud and could not hide the smirk on their faces. But the icing on the cake was Fiona’s face. Looking into a crystal ball would not have prepared her for what her twin sister just said to her, but she had it coming.

The Hughes family looked like a painting you would hang on wall and always offer a silent prayer to have one like that whenever you pass by it. With an older son and twin girls and parents who were very loving, liberal and modern, there was not much wrong you could point out. Except there was one layering which hid something that was slowing suffocating Tiana.

Imagine writing a test and having a lecturer stand behind you looking over your work and giggling every minute. This was the life of Tiana in totality. Fiona was determined to be in charge of both she and her sisters destinies. She would always make it a point to check out any project her sister undertook, criticize it and make ‘better’ version of it.

Tiana had abandoned piano lessons and ballet lessons, quit the drama club with her sister hot on her trails. While her parents felt Tiana was the unfocused twin, she was actually the talented and serious one who knew her capabilities and worked on them. Fiona never really bothered to concentrate on her abilities and was always pushing Tiana away from things she truly enjoyed. That was until Tiana exploded at the finals of a singing competition which Fiona insisted that for her final performance Tiana should include her, Fiona.

You know the feeling when a particular person drains you of all your energy just by his or her presence. They constantly go on and throw comments about things people have done but if you look at them critically, they have nothing to their name.

Well, you cannot keep on letting them suck you dry of your inspiration and passion.

It’s better to let them know that you are improving on your abilities and they can also find theirs and work on it.

It’s time to tell them…EXCUSE YOU!

Have you ever faced an ‘excuse you’ situation? How did you handle it? I would love to hear from you my dear readers. You guys are awesome.

Till I meet the next vampire….Bye Darlings!

Little Me: An empowering song for all ladies out there that you can be anything as long as you believe in yourself.

She lives in the shadow of a lonely girl
Voice so quiet you don’t hear a word,
Always talking but she can’t be heard,

[Leigh- Anne:]
You can see there if you catch her eye,
I know she’s brave but it’s trapped inside,
Scared to talk but she don’t know why,

Wish I knew back then
What I know now.
Wish I could somehow
Go back in time and maybe listen to my own advice.

I’d tell her to speak up, tell her to shout out,
Talk a bit louder, be a bit prouder,
Tell her she’s beautiful, wonderful,
Everything she doesn’t see,

You gotta speak up, you gotta shout out,
And know that right here, right now,
You can be beautiful, wonderful,
Anything you wanna be,

[Jesy:]
Little me

Yeah, you got a lot of time to act your age,
You can’t write a book from a single page,
Hands on the clock only turn one way,

(Yeah)

[Perrie:]
Run too fast and you’ll risk it all,
Can’t be afraid to take a fall,
Felt so big but she looks so small,

Wish I knew back then
What I know now.
Wish I could somehow
Go back in time and maybe listen to my own advice.

I’d tell her to speak up, tell her to shout out,
Talk a bit louder, be a bit prouder,
Tell her she’s beautiful, wonderful,
Everything she doesn’t see.
(Know that right here, right now)

You gotta speak up, you gotta shout out,
And know that right here, right now,
You can be beautiful, wonderful,
Anything you wanna be, oh,
Little me

Little me, yeah

[Leigh-Anne:]
Tell you one thing I would say to her

[All:]
I’d tell her to speak up, tell her to shout out,
Talk a bit louder, be a bit prouder,
Tell her she’s beautiful, wonderful,
Everything she doesn’t see.

(You got to) you gotta speak up, (You got to) you gotta shout out,
And know that right here, right now,
You can be beautiful, wonderful,
Anything you wanna be,
Little me

I’d tell her to speak up, tell her to shout out,
Talk a bit louder, be a bit prouder,
Tell her she’s beautiful, wonderful,
Everything she doesn’t see.

You gotta speak up, you gotta shout out,
And know that right here, right now,
You can be beautiful, wonderful,
Anything you wanna be,

I’d tell her to speak up, tell her to shout out,
Talk a bit louder, be a bit prouder,
Tell her she’s beautiful, wonderful,
Everything she doesn’t see.

You gotta speak up, you gotta shout out,
And know that right here, right now,
You can be beautiful, wonderful,
Anything you wanna be,

Little me

TUNES AND VIEWS

Am having a bad day…maybe a sad day. I open a playlist of my favorite songs and sing loudly to it till i cannot remember what made me turn it up in the first place.Yeah! The joys of music in our lives. I cannot over emphasize the importance of music in my life. Music is quite important to me because it is one gift my Dad gave me before leaving.I remember Him playing the guitar and I the piano. He would force me to learn hymns and play them to his hearing.I used to think of it as a bother. But after He left and the images of Him faded from my mind, the only thing that helped me feel close to Him were the very songs we sung together.

There have been so may memories i have had that still leave a smile on my face. Either its a memory of me and my friends goofing around to some songs we heard from a movie, or my family trying out a dance competition from a particular song or an amazing moment in church that left me feeling blessed.I always seem up in the clouds because of music. My genres of choice focuses on anything thing that touches my soul and makes me feel something positive.I do not discriminate when it comes to music.I only think that it should be from the heart. That is the only way the listener can experience the true message of the song.Lets try this.Listen a song of your choice with your eyes closed picturing the lyrics of the song in your mind’s eye. Trust me, this has led so many people to break down in tears without realizing it.

So, whether its an emotional or spiritual healing you got from a song, or a smile on the face of another because you sang a song to him or her, or just a funny moment of random kids dancing on the streets…we have all related to music in one way or the other.I will share some songs with great lyrics that have moved me. #TUNESFORLIFE
