AM I GUILTY FOR …..

Apparently I am.

Of course there are brands preaching the basic story – love yourself for who you are.And this chant seems to have gone down well with the society.

However the thing is,when the message ‘be you and love yourself’ is sent out, this is what the society hears :’You can finally love yourself when you find people like you who hold statuses in the society‘.

Let’s beak this down.

Some time, centuries ago, being voluptuous as a woman was the ‘in’ thing. Big screen actresses and broadway singers who graced the sights of society were falling into this category.

Then came the era where legs that could go on for days was the ‘hip’ thing. Therefore women who caught the eye of the public dressed in clothes that made their legs look longer. All about the legs.

Then came the period where being petite earned you another look from the stranger in the street. There was the ‘redhead‘ era,the ‘big hair don’t care‘ era, even the ‘smouldering eyes’ era. But remember that during all these eras there were people who did not fall into these categories at all.Only when another person came and caught the heart of the public could the the previous phase change into something else.

Fast forward to these times, there are so many trends going on. Yes there is the skinny is everything concept which never seems to go away, the bigger is better movement , the quirky is adorable side, the dark, grungy, deep and hipster tone and so much more. The reason for so many of these trends is that there people in the lime light- celebrities who fall into these categories.

So the question is what about those who cannot identify their personality or physical attributes with the cool people (celebrities) ? Are they just going to to stand on the sidelines till they get a spokesman for them in Hollywood?

Then the message about being yourself is attached with conditions. Its not okay to preach such a contradictory message that makes people feel lost.

If we cannot fully embrace the concept of ‘be yourself’ and everything it comes with, then we are leaving potholes in the roads we are building.

Am I guilty for standing out without a reflection in the celebrity world?

Do you ever feel like we are held back by tags society places on people?

You can share your comments ,thoughts and feelings in the comment section.

Adios my darlings…virtual wave.

I could think of many things that define me ,so here is a list.A student in the university studying languages who writes her heart out on her blog.Occasionally I sing covers of songs I love and share them with my friends.Hopefully I will fulfill my dream of being a lawyer. I aspire to publish some of my writings and record some songs in the future and hopefully open a Rehab center.
